Frequently Asked Questions

  • Induction needs magnetic cookware: cast iron, enamelled cast iron and most stainless steel. If a fridge magnet sticks firmly to the bottom of the pan, it will work. Aluminum, copper and glass won't, unless the base is marked induction compatible.
  • The cooktop only heats when it detects a suitable pan. A pan that isn't magnetic, is too small or sits off-centre may not be detected, and the cooktop may beep or show an error. Your manual explains the error codes for your model.
  • A flat-bottomed pan that covers the cooking zone circle. Warped or rounded bottoms make poor contact and heat unevenly. Your manual lists the minimum pan size.
  • The glass doesn't create heat itself, but it does get hot from the pan sitting on it. Let it cool before touching or wiping it.
  • Yes. A low hum or buzz is normal with induction, especially at higher settings or with multi-layer cookware. The cooling fan may also keep running for a bit after you switch off.
