Salton’s 8 Cup Rice Cooker can cook up to 8 cups of rice or grain and keep it warm until you are ready to serve. Not only does it make the perfect amount of fluffy rice every time, but the included basket can be used to steam seafood, poultry, and vegetables even while rice cooks below. Conveniently, the steaming basket doubles as a ‘rice rinser’ - rinsing rice before cooking helps prevent clumping for a fresher, more authentic taste and texture. The non-stick bowl removes for easy cleaning!

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Rinsing removes surface starch for fluffier, less sticky rice. Rinse in cold water until it runs mostly clear. Skip rinsing for dishes where you want creamy, sticky rice.
  • Brown rice needs more water and more time than white rice. Use the ratios in your manual, or the brown rice setting if your model has one.
  • Use the measuring cup that came with your rice cooker and the water lines inside the bowl. Rice cooker cups are smaller than a standard 250 ml measuring cup, so mixing the two throws off the ratio.
  • If your model includes a steaming basket, yes. Place vegetables, dumplings or fish in the basket above the rice so everything is ready at the same time.
  • Rice tastes best within a few hours. Don't leave it on keep warm longer than your manual recommends. A thin golden crust on the bottom after a long hold is normal.
